Mount Royal must remain the tallest in the city. Regulations by the Montreal municipality prohibit builders from erecting structures taller than the summit of the mountain, which many consider an excellent point for preserving nature in urban settings. Montreal remains the only Canadian city to host the Summer Olympics. In 1976, the city of Montreal housed some of the world’s best athletes and saw them compete at top level.
Montreal has the most number of bike paths in all of North America. Whether a person pursues cycling as a sport or as a hobby that doubles as their daily commute, Montreal is the place to be. The best-tasting bagels are baked in Montreal. Following a generations-old tradition of boiling bagels in honey-infused water before sliding them into wood fire ovens, the bagels that Montreal bakes are exceptionally pleasing. The second-largest French-speaking city in the world, most Montrealers are bilingual, with either English or French as their mother tongue.

The hockey capital of the world is Montreal, with the first official game played in the city back in March 3, 1875. The Montreal Canadiens have taken home the Stanley Cup more times than any other hockey team.
